Died on Monday, November 7, 2022, at his residence.
He was bom on June 8, 1953, in St. Paul, son of Rita and Donald Pfalz. He worked in the printing industry and was a ten-year cancer survivor. Music was his life. Music touched him and spoke to him deeply and brightly. He reveled in the ways songs give voice to the joys and sorrows of being human. He loved sharing music’s language, playing in bands and teaching others. Trumpet was his instrument of choice. He began playing in childhood. He played the trumpet in school, the St. Paul Drum and Bugle Corps, and as a founding member of his band “Built for Comfort” and other bands. Paul had the heart of a musician. To him, music is the language of our love and hope and sorrows and dreams. The next time we hear our favorite songs, he wants us to think of how music connects us to others. Preceding him in death are his parents Rita and Don Pfalz. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Kinney; former spouse, Patricia Byrne; daughters, Katie (with husband Brendon), Kristen (with husband Kevin) and Ruth (with fiancé Mark); grandchildren, Amelia, Greta, Ramona, Elliot and Charlotte; sisters, Marv (with husband Don) and Dona (witn husband Dave); brother, Peter (with wife Kelly); and several nieces and nephews. If desired, donations in Paul’s name may be made to the Save the Music Foundation; savethemusic.org. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.dowsnfh.com.
